A presentation to the Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans - Some issues concerning the future of Canada's owner-operator fleets.

Since its founding the Canadian Council of Professional Fish Harvesters has called on the Federal government to firmly establish Owner-Operator and Fleet Separation policies on both coasts as the cornerstone for the long term social and economic development of Canada's fisheries. 

The purpose of these policies would be to give priority access to the fishery to owner-operator fleets in order to curtail corporate concentration and ensure that the social and economic benefits of the fishery are as widely distributed as possible  in fishing communities all along the coast...
